Can I cancel my booking at The Observatory Hotel for a full refund?
Bookings made under our best available flexible rates may be cancelled up to 48 hours prior to your arrival without incurring a cancellation fee. Bookings made under our non-refundable rates or pre-pay and save rates are non-refundable and non-amendable. No refund will be given in the event of a non-arrival, or any unused services or unused room nights due to flight and/or weather disruptions. We highly recommend that you protect yourself with travel insurance.

Does The Observatory Hotel have a pool or SPA or massage services?
Unfortunately, our hotel does not have a pool or spa facility onsite. However, Dee Dee Thai Massage is a short walk away within the Art Centre precinct, and open from 9.00 am to 6.30pm, 7 days a week. Advanced booking is preferred. For bookings, please call +64 21 053 9253.

What are the check-in and check-out times for The Observatory Hotel?
Check-in is available from 2pm, and our standard check-out time is 10am. Where possible, we will provide flexibility by granting guests an early check-in and/or late check-out - however, this will be dependent on availability. Please contact our reception desk, open from 7.00am to 9.00pm daily, to enquire about this service.

No, unfortunately we do not offer an on-site restaurant. However, we do offer breakfast services, and limited charge-back dining options are available around the hotel. What's included in the tariff?
Our hotel rates are quoted in New Zealand dollars (NZD) and are charged on a per person, per night basis. Accommodation rates are exclusive of a 15% Goods and Services Tax (GST). Package rates are inclusive of 15% GST. Our Room Only rates includes the price of your room for up to 2 people, including complimentary hotel amenities and Wi-Fi. Our Bed & Breakfast rates includes the price of your room for up to 2 people and daily continental breakfast served in our lobby.

How many rooms does The Observatory Hotel have?
The Observatory Hotel has 33 rooms in total. The interior design of each guest room is unique in colour and scheme. A contemporary take on arts and crafts is reflected in our fabric selection, as well as the custom-designed and locally produced furniture, furnishings and accessories. Wherever possible, antiques and mid-century pieces have been sourced to add to the patina of the overall design. The bold colour block carpet design was inspired by the work of renowned artist, Gordon Walters.

Can I bring my pet to The Observatory Hotel?
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed within the hotel. However, we do allow service animals to accompany guests during their stay.

What hours are meals usually served?
Continental breakfast is served daily within the hotel between 7.00am and 10.00am.

What is the minimum age for check-in?
The Observatory Hotel welcomes children of all ages, so long as they are accompanied by an adult. Children who are 5 years and under can stay free of charge when accompanied with a full paying adult in the same room.
